Your roof should not cost a fortune. What has happened to the roofing industry is what has happened to most of the retail market, “The Middle Man” has gotten involved. When a middle man or “salesman” sits at your table and tells you they are $2,000-$4,000 more than the lowest bid because of “superior products” or “quality workmanship” or “customer service” ask them one thing… Does he own the company? If not, what is his commision? Here is a roofing secret Columbus – we all use basically the same products with the same crews and skill level for our roofing services.

The average retail sales commision on roofs is between 12% – 15%. What does this mean? When an owner operater, like Tip Top Roofs, bids a job at $10,000 and the “big name company” bids it at $12,000 – they will tell you it’s because of many reasons. BUT, if that salesman at your table is not the owner and needs his commision to sell you this roof – that is exaclty where that extra $2,000 goes. It 100% DOES NOT add value to your roof or service. You just paid that “middle man” $2,000 because he sold you a service he can’t provide, which is anything more than the same roof that $10,000 contractor will get you.

This can sting when people learn it or realize it. Why are we letting this secret out? Because most “middle men” barely even know how to swing a hammer. We are old school – we belive your contractor should be experienced and affordable. Your costs shouldn’t include paying some sales guys salary.
